

Birmingham Area Girls Lacrosse Day Camp with John Hopkins/Denver
June 5-8, 2012, Girls ages 9 - 17 years old
Program Directors: Lightning Lacrosse is pleased to announce that Johns Hopkins Asst. Coach, Tara Singleton will run this skills camp. Tara enters her first season on the Blue Jay coaching staff. She will coach the Blue Jay defense as well as assist in recruiting and the day-to-day operations. A 2004 graduate of nearby Loyola College, Singleton spent one year at her alma mater before moving to UMBC, where she spent two years coaching the defense. While with the Retrievers, she served as the interim head coach during the spring of 2006 while the head coach was on maternity leave. In 2007, she left Baltimore and joined the Denver staff where in her first season the Pioneers went 13-6 and advanced to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship game. After going 10-8 in 2009, Denver posted a 13-5 record in 2010 and again advanced to the MPSF title game. This past season, her defensive unit ranked eighth in the nation in scoring defense, holding their opponents to just 8.57 goals per game.
Singleton played four years at Loyola, starting her last two years and captaining the Greyhounds as a senior. She helped Loyola to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances, two Final Fours and the 2002 Colonial Athletic Association title. As a junior, she led the team in caused turnovers and anchored the top-ranked defense in the nation. As a senior, she again led the team in caused turnovers and was among the national leaders in that category. She earned second team All-America honors as a senior and was a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee.
Singleton was a member of the U.S. National Developmental Team from 2003-05, a 2005 World Cup team candidate and a member of the U.S. National Elite Team from 2007-08. She served as a counselor at Loyola Lacrosse Camps for seven summers, head coach of the North Baltimore County Lacrosse Team for three seasons and is the co-owner of Denver Summit Lacrosse.
A Baltimore native and Mercy High School alumna, Singleton graduated from Loyola in 2004 with a degree in elementary education and a minor in special education.
Program Director: Rachel Shuck – Current Univ. of Denver Asst. Coach and lead recruiter, Rachel Shuck will also run this skill development camp. Coach Shuck is in her 5th season with the Pioneers and one of their top recruiters. Coach Shuck was an elite collegiate player at Loyola Univ. in Baltimore, MD. She was a 2X All-American, 2X team captain in ’03 and ’04, and a finalist for the Tewaarton Award, celebrating the best player in college lacrosse. A native of Annapolis, MD, Coach Shuck has dedicated many summers to help girls all over the country improve their skills at lacrosse camps.
STAFF: Our Lightning Lacrosse staff will consist of current players at Johns Hopkins and the top high school coaches in Birmingham.
Time: 9am to 1pm each day or 9am to 11am for beginning players
